This project was
unique from the standpoint that the site had been an old
landfill before its current use as a Maintenance Yard.
The landfill had never been formally closed and HRC was
able to work with the MDEQ to secure an approval of the
on-site handling of disturbed refuse materials, which were
placed in a protected earthen berm.
The
Wallaceville Yard Improvements project conssisted of the
removal of an existing Maintenance Building that did not
fit the requirements for the Wayne County personnel responsible
for maintenance in Rouge Park. The new Facility consisted
of construction of a new 8,000 square foot Maintenance Building
that housed offices, locker/restrooms as well as ample storage
and maintenance areas for the staff to service and repair
their equipment.
The
Project also included site improvements with paving, landscaping
and storage bins for landscape materials to be used in the
park. The site improvements also included a 500-gallon,
Fireguard, aboveground storage tank to handle the maintenance
equipmnet fuel needs and a wash slab area (with grit and
oil/grease removal) to clean vehicles and other maintenance
equipment.
