New Work

HRC incorporated new indoor diesel engine driven generator sets into the Waldon Creek Well House/Booster Station and Bay Court Well House designs.  The design for the Waldon Creek Well House included a 200 kw generator set, a 300 amp automatic transfer switch, and a double wall fuel tank in the base of the unit.

The design for the Bay Court Well House included a 350 kw generator set, a 400 amp automatic transfer switch and a double wall fuel tank in the base of the unit.

Both installations also included required NFPA provisions for a remote "high level" alarm at the exterior fuel fill point with a 5 gallon spill containment fill basin and normal and emergency vents for the fuel tank to the exterior of the building.   The fuel storage tank was also equipped with a low fuel level alarm and interstitial leak detection with attendant alarms being retransmitted.

Remodeling Work

HRC provided design work to exchange existing generators and automatic transfer switches between two existing Well Houses; Lake Oakland Woods and Chestnut Hills.  The design provided for upgrading the installations at both Well Houses to provide for new double wall, diesel fuel tanks with high and low level alarms and interstitial tank leak detection alarms which were then incorporated into the SCADA system.  The tanks were also properly piped for both normal and emergency vents to the exterior of the buildings.  Additionally, an exterior fill station with spill containment and overfill alarm annunciation was provided.  The transfer switches were also modified with the addition of new relays to provide for remote indication of power available and source of power being used.

The generators' control panels were upgraded to provide for transmitting the full range of status and alarm conditions to the SCADA system for remote monitoring.

Each Well House was also modified to provide for proper ventilation of the generator units.
