HRC was responsible for the reconstruction of the existing 1.3 mile long, four-lane boulevard into a new reinforced concrete six-lane boulevard with concrete curb & gutter. Included in the project was a portion of the Lane Drain, water main installation and abandonment, traffic signals and street lighting. Temporary staged widening lanes were utilized to maintain traffic and temporary drainage facilities were required to be provided for storm water flow.
The project team installed 80,000 square yards of concrete pavement, 12,000 linear feet of sewer pipe (including 5,000 linear feet of 90-inch sewer pipe), 90,000
square feet of sidewalk, 22,000 square feet of brick pavers, 5,000 linear feet of water main and 25,000 linear feet of curb and gutter.
Big Beaver Road was open to traffic on November 1, 2001, a full month ahead of schedule. The project was completed in the Summer of 2002.
