The project consisted
of replacing an existing three lane steel and concrete bridge
structure over the Lodge Freeway (M-10). A new seven lane
structure, including sidewalk, bike path and two turnaround
lanes on the superstructure, was constructed above the 400
foot long abutment and retaining walls on each side of the
freeway. Bridge removal and replacement with a 174' by 130'
wide, 2-span, 45º skewed bridge. Reconstruction of
median barrier, concrete shoulders, lighting and relocation
of pedestrian bridge. A major consideration in the project
was maintaining freeway traffic during the construction
phase. HRC prepared plans and specifications for the project
