Question: Where is Phase 3 project?
Answer: It is on University between Pine Street on the east and Ludlow on the west.
Question: How will the construction affect me?
Answer: University Road will be closed to thru traffic beginning August 4 and is scheduled to be completed by November 1. In addition, there will be a brief scheduled shutdown in the water main serving residents in this area in order to switch each property to the new main that is being installed. You will be notified before that happens.
Question: Will I be able to get to my driveway?
Answer: Most of the time, the contractor will keep part of the road open for residents and businesses. The existing asphalt surface will be removed so the ride will be rougher than what you’re accustomed to. There will be a period when the utility installation will prevent you from accessing your driveway. You will be notified when that occurs and the contractor will assist with alternate means for getting to your home.
Question: How will my garbage collection be affected?
Answer: The Contractor is required to work with the City’s garbage disposal firm to get the garbage to a location where the disposal firm can collect it. The Contractor for the construction project must return the trash cans to their Owners as well. If you are having a problem, please contact the City or HRC so that they can assist in resolving the matter.
Question: How will mail delivery service be maintained?
Answer: The Contractor working on your street is required to maintain mail delivery to your home or business. The Contractor must notify the Postal Service when he commences work, and advise them of conditions that may impact the delivery of your mail. If you are not receiving mail or have gotten notification that there is an issue with mail delivery to your property, please contact the City or HRC so that they can assist in resolving the matter.
Question: I have an underground sprinkler system. Will it be disturbed?
Answer: Please advise the City, HRC or the Contractor if you have sprinklers within the public right of way (most likely between the sidewalk and the curb). It would be helpful if you can provide us the location and type of sprinkler heads as well as supply lines or other buried components. The goal of the City is to minimize any outages of the sprinkler systems. If your system is damaged within the limits of the project, the Contractor will provide temporary repairs to the balance of the system to keep it operational throughout the project. Your assistance in determining where these are located prior to the work commencing is appreciated.
Question: I think that there was a second water & sewer lead added to my house when an addition was built. Will they both be reconnected?
Answer: The City request that if you have more than one water service or sanitary sewer lead to your property, please notify the City as early as possible in the project. The goal of the City, HRC and the Contractor is to determine where these exist, and re-connect them to the new utilities with a minimum amount of interruption as possible. Your assistance is appreciated.
