WASTE WATER/CSO TREATMENT/COLLECTION // Village of Romeo WWTP

A 1.6 million gallon per day (mgd) wastewater treatment facility (WWTF) owned by the Village of Romeo needed to replace aging equipment, improve operations and expand to 2.1 mgd. Changed regulatory requirements and costs precluded expanding the existing RBC system. Trickling filters with advanced aeration and electric drive distributors are proposed for installation in series with the existing RBC system. This preserves the Village investment in the WWTF and was the most cost effective choice on a small site.

Aging equipment in the WWTF, particularly the primary anaerobic digester and sludge pumping, is slated for replacement. An aging comminutor will be replaced with a screening removal system that will improve plant operations. Improved controls and electrical system will be installed for the tertiary filters and sludge pumping system.

RBC shaft failure led to difficulties in meeting permit limits. A detailed operational review of the plant was undertaken. Operational changes were identified and implemented. Replacement of the first RBC stage shafts and media is undergoing. A supplemental RBC aeration system will be installed to improve plant capacity to deal with high flows.
