Liberty
Project Description:
As part of the Road Maintenance Millage that was recently renewed by voter approval in November of 2008, the City of Wixom is planning to reconstruct the public roadways with in the Wixom Business Park development. The scope of this project is the complete reconstruction of the existing Liberty Drive, including removing and replacing the entire width of the existing pavement for the entire length of the project. The replacement pavement cross section will be 6” of asphalt 8” on 21AA limestone aggregate. Additional excavation below the existing aggregate base will be necessary to accommodate the increased thickness pavement and aggregate section. The existing curb and gutter is in fairly good shape, and minimal removal and replacement is planned. The existing approaches will be removed and replaced within the right-of-way and will match the pavement roadway material and thickness.
The existing sanitary sewer manhole covers will be removed and replaced with new “City of Wixom” hinged covers. The top two feet of each sanitary manhole will be reconstructed, and wrapped in a butyl rubber membrane to protect against storm water infiltration. It appears that several of the existing catch basins and/or storm structures have been repaired recently and received new castings. Installation of edge drain and other drainage improvements will be made as deemed necessary based on the field conditions that are encountered. A small quantity of damaged 15” diameter storm sewer will be removed and replaced within Liberty Drive on the north side of the Park. All storm structures will be repointed and cleaned.
The total project cost is estimated to be approximately $490,000 to $520,000.
